A wedding is something you may have dreamed of your whole life. The pressure for everything to be the fairy tail of your dreams is overwhelming. Despite all your efforts, some unexpected things are bound to happen. Your wedding planner will help alleviate many things that will go wrong. but there may be things that are out of their control as well. Assign 1 or 2 close family or friends who will be your “personal wedding assistants” to help you if any of these things go wrong. Dealing with things like family drama should be handled by them and not a wedding planner. The main thing is to focus on the good and accept the fact that things may go awry.

Avoiding bad weather

The best way to avoid bad weather on your wedding day is to plan ahead and prepare accordingly. If the weather forecast isn't good, the last thing you want is to be stuck on your wedding day with rain-soaked hair. While rain is a major setback for outdoor weddings, it's only a temporary inconvenience. It doesn't signify bad luck, or bad love. Some venues come with a back up plan as simple as clear umbrellas to a whole other location.

Avoiding too much alcohol

Weddings are usually an all day affair with alcohol flowing for you and your guests. You may be a nervous wreck and need a drink to take the edge off. Just be careful not to over drink. Many wedding professionals urge their clients to pace themselves when it comes to alcohol consumption. Too much alcohol early in the day can lead to burnout and could make it difficult to remain sober during the wedding ceremony and vows.Be sure there are plenty of food and water available for you and your guests. The last thing you want to do is wake up the next morning with no recollection of your special day.

Forgetting something at home

Making a checklist will help you avoid leaving something at home. Before you walk out the door, check everything off and make sure it is in the car with you. Most things can be replaced aside from your wedding dress or marriage license so try not to be distressed if you do.

Someone may get sick or hurt

Either you, your spouse, or the many people attending may get sick or hurt. Ideally people will stay home if they are really sick but if it is just a head ache or acid indigestion these things can be helped. Pack a first Aide kit with different types of over the counter medicine. Band aids and swabs of alcohol are always handy too if someone gets a cut. Tissues are also handy for the teary eyes and runny noses. Appointing someone to hold on the the kit is best since the couple will be way too occupied during their wedding.

Being late for your wedding

There may be a few guests that arrive late which may go unnoticed unless they are clamoring into seats during the ceremony.Also, if it is you, your spouse or someone important like the officiant, it can be detrimental to your timeline. Many wedding vendors have a timeline to follow. The photographer may only be booked for 4 hours, the caterers food needs to be served at a certain time, entertainment will need to leave and the list goes on. Be sure to have explicit directions to send to your guests with the exact time of the ceremony. You may be able to skip taking photos, but not getting all the photos of your dream wedding will haunt you forever.

An Uninvited Guest Will Show up

your bridesmaid may invite someone with out telling you. This is an awkward situation for everyone. At this point, you may just have to grin and politely find accommodations for them. If there is absolutely no room for them, then you would need to apologize and ask them to leave. Appoint someone as your middleman to do this because you don’t want to be the one dealing with this situation.

Unruly Guests

Not everyone may think this is a happy occasion or they are having a tiff with their spouse. Airing their grievances at your wedding may be an unfortunate situation. Try to avoid the situation and go somewhere else. All eyes are on you so hopefully it will stay that way. Again your appointed wedding planner can help diffuse the situation.

Damage to your dress

Damage to your dress is very common. Most people aren’t used to huge trains, puffy skirts, or a veil from their head. A little tear or stain is manageable so bring some stain removers and a small sewing kit. The worse case, is that the photographer may have a bit more work to do photo shopping a huge stain.

Damage to the cake

This classic wedding disaster is a common occurrence. Be sure that your cake is not only beautiful and tastes good, but also stable and well made. Look for references from for your cake maker or ask friends and family who they have used before.

Bad Photographers or Videographers

Having a bad photographer or videographer will show in your pictures and videos. Poor direction or too much direction can be detrimental. Having photographers and videographers that clash with styles can be uncomfortable as they compete with their vision. Our venue uses handpicked vendors so our photographers, videographers, officiants etc are well referred and know our venue well. So always ask your wedding venue if they have a preferred vendor list.

Although things may go on during your wedding, it is still a day that is special. So try to enjoy it no matter what may be going wrong. at this point there isn’t much to do. So concentrate on your future spouse and focus on the “I do’s”
